Catastrophizing- a cognitive distortion


Catastrophizing is a cognitive distortion. Here a person tends to be fixated at the worst possible outcome even when there is no adequate evidence to suggest that outcome. In anxiety, this thought distortion is very prominent. People in their minds create a doomsday scenario faced with small discomforts. It is important to catch yourself while catastrophizing and to change that thinking.
